We have a site that we recently installed ClickTale code on... Today, we received notice that Google has blacklisted our site as suspicious and flagged it on their search results as "may be harmful if you visit". Needless to say, we were hesitant to believe that ClickTale could be culprit, but we went ahead and removed the code from the site and had Google rescan it. The results came back clean and Google is lifting the ban.

Any idea on how Clicktale could have caused this? Google reported the issue on 8 of our pages.... Since we only removed clicktale and the problem resolved itself, we're very hesitant to reinstall and resume our service.

Im still awaiting support to get back to me, but thought I'd check here on if anyone has experienced the same?

General Questions :: Difference between attention and scroll reach heatmaps

 <TOPIC_TITLE>Difference between attention and scroll reach heatmaps</TOPIC_TITLE>

Hi,

I have been reading the Wiki and FAQs provided for ClickTale heatmaps, but am still confused about the differences between the two.

The attention heatmap shows the attention of visitors in seconds on a page of your website. Does this heatmap change or get updated based on what you specify then for link analytics, or does link analytics just provide additional information to the attention of visitors? So additional information on clicks, hovers, time to click, visitor hesitation, visitors by clicks, etc. are shown on the heatmap in addition to attention, but the map colouring doesn't change? Or does what you specify for link analytics actually change and update the heatmap, and the colouring of the heatmap actually changes for the measurement item?

As for the scroll reach map, this map is supposed to show the fold, how far visitors scroll, and where they abandon the page. So this heatmap is still based on attention in seconds? From the Wiki it says you can choose Attention, Visitors or Total Time for the scrolling map, but I don't see any of these options. I believe it is just showing the attention scroll map. Where I am confused is in interpreting the map then, as I see from my attention heatmap that my homepage is red hot, fading to yellow, back to red near the bottom of the page, whereas for the scroll reach heatmap, it is red hot, fading to yellow to cool blue. What would this mean then since both are showing attention in terms of engagement seconds? Can it be that the attention heatmap shows me that visitors are spending time looking at the bottom of the page? What then does the scroll reach map mean..that they aren't scrolling to the end, although their attention time there is high?

Any clarification would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Hi,
I recently uploaded clicktale to all my web pages but i'm not sure if clicktale will show the actual video recording when a new visitor is watching.
Q- Does clicktale show the actions of a youtube or vimeo video using iframe when the clicktale code has been inserted into the body of the entire webpage? Recordings are showing fine. I am just not sure if my video is being watched or not?

I would like to know if 1 they are watching and 2 if they are leaving at a certain point in the video and/or 3 not watching at all.
Thanks

Hi,

I have implemented the ASP.NET module into a website that is primarily for users that are logged in, however while the public pages are showing fine in the Session Player, the pages in the authenticated area being reported as receiving a 302 error.

I've checked the logs and I can see Clicktale trying to directly access these pages, however I have set the "ClickTaleFetchFrom" option in the config settings, but this seems to be getting ignored.

The config is also set to store the page data to database (which it seems to be doing, lots of records in the database).

Any ideas of what I should be checking/doing to get Clicktale to retrieve the page data from the handler that it is supposed to be using??

Hi,

I've installed the ClickTale Wordpress plugin - is there a way to only track particular pages/posts? I only want to record a few pages so that I can maximise the recording quota.

If there's not a way to do it with the plugin, what's the easiest way to do it manually with Wordpress?
Thanks,

Troubleshooting :: Offline recordings in WordPress Admin

 <FORUM_NAME>Troubleshooting</FORUM_NAME>
 <TOPIC_TITLE>Offline recordings in WordPress Admin</TOPIC_TITLE>

I'm trying to record actions in the WordPress admin to support usability testing of our custom plugins.

I've been able to connect the front end of the WP site to ClickTale. When I tried watching the recordings on the admin side I received the dreaded 302 error. After some research I implemented the server side PHP integration. That seemed to work -- at least I could see the that the visits occurred. Clicking around only on GET requests I should be able to playback some results but I don't. Perhaps there is a problem with the authentication?

On my server side I see new files in the Cache directory but I do not see files in the Log directory.
The config.php contains these changes:

$config['AllowDebug'] = true;
// used to log the token generated in the cache phase
$config['LogCaching'] = true;
// used to log the token requested in the fetch phase
$config['LogFetching'] = true;

I then moved on to the ClickTaleUploadPage function. I added the following lines to my "Bottom part" section:

if(typeof ClickTaleUploadPage=='function') {
ClickTaleUploadPage('<!DOCTYPE html>
<!--[if IE 8]>
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" class="ie8" dir="ltr" lang="en-US">
<![endif]-->
<!--[if !(IE ]><!-->
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" dir="ltr" lang="en-US">
<!--<![endif]-->','</html>');}

The initial part of the admin page contains the following:

<!DOCTYPE html>
<!--[if IE 8]>
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" class="ie8" dir="ltr" lang="en-US">
<![endif]-->
<!--[if !(IE ]><!-->
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" dir="ltr" lang="en-US">
<!--<![endif]-->
<head>
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8" />
<title>Dashboard &lsaquo; BroadSpring Test Site &#8212; WordPress</title>
<script type="text/javascript">.....

Now my error is :
Page content of the recording was not retrieved successfully.
Possible causes may include; a "member-only" page, or a communication error.
Please note that recording of pages that depend on session state or pages on an internal network is not supported by the default mode of recording.
For the default mode to function, pages should be accessible for an anonymous fetch from our servers.
See the forum for details on alternative modes of recording.

Suggestions? Is there a step I've missed or obviously configured incorrectly?
These are all coming into clicktale as individual pages, and are therefore not working as heatmaps.
