Post subject:  Why is my form always showing question marks?

This is for cases when the form always shows question marks in the fields and when conversion is not detected, even if "submit" is pressed during recording. Otherwise see viewtopic.php?f=2&t=448

In order for us to be able to detect your form submissions correctly, you need to use the standard <input type=’submit’> or <input type=’image’> tag as the trigger for POSTing. If you're using a link or an image with a javascript onclick handler, submission will not be detected - if we can’t detect the submit, the content will be blocked due to privacy issues (see: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=448). As a result all form entries will appear as question marks and you won’t be able to track conversions in Form Analytics. When doing the change you will need to move your validation to the form.onsubmit handler .

If you have a form like this:
Code:
 <FORM action="http://somesite.com/prog/adduser" method="post">
    <P>
    First name: <INPUT type="text" name="firstname"><BR>
    Last name: <INPUT type="text" name="lastname"><BR>
    email: <INPUT type="text" name="email"><BR>
    <INPUT type="image" src="submit.gif" alt="Submit">
    <A href="javascript:validate()">
      <IMG alt="Submit" src="submit.gif">
    </A>
    </P>
 </FORM>
note: here 'validate' executes 'form.submit()' if the data is valid.

Change it to this identical form so it can be properly recorded:
Code:
 <FORM action="http://somesite.com/prog/adduser" method="post" onsubmit="return validate();">
    <P>
    First name: <INPUT type="text" name="firstname"><BR>
    Last name: <INPUT type="text" name="lastname"><BR>
    email: <INPUT type="text" name="email"><BR>
    <INPUT type="image" src="submit.gif" alt="Submit">
    </P>
 </FORM>
note: here 'validate' returns true if the form is valid.
