Hi,

I've recently integrated ClickTale into an ASP.NET web application. We have some pages that will load dynamic content (a list of products, for example). Since a click heat map can't really provided relevant data (because the content is potentially different with each load of the page), what kind of analytics would be the most useful on a page like this?

Thanks.

You will probably want to focus on the layout of the page to get a good idea of how people use it. Once you understand how many rows of products visitors view, how quickly they make decisions, etc, you should be able to change your design to better fit your customers' browsing habits.

Here are a few things you can look for:
    Scrolling:
      - Scroll Reach Heatmap: This will help you understand how many rows of products visitors scroll down far enough to view. You might see that visitors will view the first 3 rows but not the fourth, for example.
      - Scrolling Report:This is part of the Pages Reports. Here, you can see how far visitors scroll on different pages as well as each page's pixel length. With this report you can get a good idea of how long your pages should be in order for visitors to view all of the content.
      - Visitor Recordings: You should use this to watch some recordings of visitors to the page. Pay extra attention to how quickly visitors scroll up and down (are they taking a serious look at your products?) and how quickly they make decisions (do they click on an item within a few seconds?)
      - Attention Heatmap: Use this heatmap to see how scrolling affects attention rates. You might see that your visitors only scan your content.

Engagement Report: Also part of the Pages Reports. Here you can see which pages/content visitors spend the most time looking at. It's a good way to get insight into which products/categories are most interesting.

Mouse Move Heatmap: Often times, visitors will focus on one specific side of the page. This heatmap will show you if visitors focus on the left or the right or specific products in a row.

Click Heatmap: Event though your content changes, this can still be very helpful. Use this heatmap to see what graphics and text attract the most clicks. Also, if you have any items that aren't links but receive many clicks, it's a red flag for poor usability.

Is clicktale able to record or capture the page details each time if the page is dynamic? It may help to figure out what the default page would be before any parameters are changed by the customer resulting in dynamic content. For instance, we have filters on our product pages that the customer can tweak and change.

Hello,

ClickTale is able to playback dynamic content. Please see the following links regarding the manner in which to implement support for such content:
